The world is going through trying times of Government shutdown, Environment problems, Local Economy, and Global wars. So I think people should be reminded that there is still some hope in the world and positive things still happen. Therefore here are some stories to give hope “in-decline”.
The Government shutdown and many people that work for the government or need government resources are fearful of losing their jobs, medicare, and federal housing. However a bill is being reintroduced and feral workers are being shielded from foreclosure and evictions. Sen. Brian Schatz D-Hawaii explains hundreds of federal workers are not going to be able to pay rent and make ends meet. He knows that the new bill will protect workers during the shutdown. This bill dates back to a 35-day shutdown in 2019 and if it is being suggested again in congress it might work.
At least the environment is getting better. The US is starting to use more renewable energy, fossil fuels are at an all time low in electricity generation. Renewable energy is generating 51% of usable electricity. Coupled with the EU saw a drop of greenhouse gas emissions by 8% in 2023 but the total emissions now 37% below 1990’s level (I know it was 2 years ago but still relevant today). Also we can forget about the animals, Iberian lynx rarest cats in the world are no longer endangered species and after 20 years of conservation efforts the population increased from 62 mature individuals in 2001 to 648 in 2022.
Here’s some good local news. There is a new baby asian elephant at the Columbus Zoo, born on July 23 2025. Ohioans are glad to have new elephants to the zoo, “already stealing hearts with her curious trunk, wobbly steps, and strong bond with mom.” Asian elephants are an endangered species and every birth of this animal is important. In addition to this good news there is new kinship housing in Dayton, Affordable housing is now being provided to low income families. The amenities include an on-site community room, outdoor space with a playground, and easy access to parks and Dayton Children’s Hospital. This is good to keep the community safe and keeps kids and adults busy.
The world is not over yet and positive things happen everyday. Everyone deserves true happiness and hope these stories help you achieve that goal.
