On August 24, 2018 hit sensational k-pop boyband BTS, released a series of albums titled Love Yourself ‘Her’
Love Yourself ‘Tear’ and Love Yourself ‘Answer.’ This trilogy was a breakdown of the process of loving yourself no matter what. If you were different in any way meaning your gender identity, skin color, sexuality, nationality, etc. you should still love yourself because being different makes you unique.
Immediately after the release of this album, fans shared just how significant the meaning of this album became to them. Many shared their personal stories whether that would be opening up about their sexual orientation, healing unhealed wounds, or facing challenges they never wanted to overcome because the fear was laying there in their heart eating them away from freedom.
The great success of the album not only led BTS to great fame in the west, but allowed them to work with UNICEF in starting the “Love Myself” campaign. This campaign was an anti-violence campaign that the fans made more than it was designated to be. ARMYS (BTS’s fandom name) which stands for Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth started charities under this campaign project and donated to those in need, whether that was women’s shelters, homeless veterans, orphanages, schools, and just so much more.
To this day, this still remains one of BTS’s greatest albums and projects ever, helping many overcome their fears and healing unhealed scars while giving back to the community.
